The Traverse, getting narrow despite retaining a good depth!

Taking a short cut to the 105, can still drop of the Traverse before the corner.

View towards Ben Madcui. Looks hazy further East.

Skiers waiting at the top of the Traverse.

The Kickers in the Terrain Park above the Ptarmigan.

Heading for home via the Fiacaill Ridge.

Boarder gets air of the Kicker above the Ptarmigan.

A misty view over the Northern Corries.

Piste Basher at work in the Ptarmigan Bowl at the end of the day, running out of stuff to bash!

You should have seen the landing!

The Zig Zags are Zagging... lot more shovelling needed!

Looking up the Ciste Tow at the cross over from the Gully side to the lift.

Coire Cas from the T-bar. Will load from top of Gunbarrel from Sunday.

View down Coire Cas.

The top leg of the Zig Zags, gets much narrower and thinner thereafter, take care.

Report
An early taste of summer on the 'Gorm on Saturday with mostly blue skies, warm temperatures and light winds. Following the savage thaw since mid-week, action is now limited to the Top Basin, the Traverse and Coire Cas.

Still ample areas for learning in the Ptarmigan Bowl on soft snow. The best snow is to be found on Coire Cas, where thanks to a more consolidated base the surface is now more granular spring like snow.

The Cas Tow will load from the top of the Gunbarrel from Sunday, and though shortening the run and preventing access from the mid-station, this will give an easier and more enjoyable run avoiding problems getting into the loading area. The Gunbarrel is broken and closed, the snow is to soft and people have been in the burn, you have been warned!

Little in the way of snow lower down, but experts can still just about pick their way to the Daylodge via the Fiacaill Ridge, with due care and some neat very short radius turns, anyone on blades has a distinct advantage!

More sun for Sunday so get up there and make the most of what's left while its still there. Thanks to Helen for today's photos. Send yours to pix@winterhighland.com .
