Report
Milder than expected temperatures overnight Thursday into Friday saw rain at most level of the mountain for a time, this means there has been some snow loss from the lower areas, and there are more thin/narrow sections to beware off, but there is still riding from the Top to the foot of the Plateau Poma.
Snow is now firm to hard packed following thaw/freeze cycling, but this means we have at last the start of a base across most runs, the downside is there are icy patches to beware off. Probably the best conditions are to be found on the Main Basin and Happy Valley. The lack of depth on the Plateau means that though the runs are complete, the Poma uptrack is tricky and uneven. For experts the Flypaper is complete, but somewhat chopped up and hard. Surface conditions are not as good as last weekend, but the snow has seen some much needed consolidation, and as such hidden rocks should be less of a problem now.
Now we have the beginnings of base, bring on the next dump! Friday's photos from bobbyboarder . Please send your photos to pix@winterhighland.com and remember you can also post your own reports and photos on our public reports server.
