The Lecht kicked off it's season on day one, an honour shared with Glenshee, and Yad Moss in England. Not such typical day one of the season conditions, the snow has drifted well between the fences, and the open terrain on Saturday was full width between the sticks and absolutely no need for the Rock-hoppers, with some fence lines virtually buried.
Runs on the Grouse area, and the Cafe side of the Eagle were pisted, but the unpisted side of the Eagle was giving some good fun sport, though the snow was slightly sticky earlier on, it improved as temperatures begun to drop back and the snow which fell for most of the day turned drier.
The Eagle, Grouse, Osprey and Robin were open on Saturday with the Eagle just edging it for best run. Snowy Owl chairlift is expected to run on Sunday weather permitting. The weather was closing in somewhat at dusk, with the wind picking up and snow becoming heavier, so the runs should have a further top up for Sunday.
In short, wahey....
