Report
Glencoe finally was able to kick off their 2006 season on Saturday, making the 18th of February the first day of the 2006 season (which initially started off in an Eastern Powder feast in November) with all five Scottish Snowsport Areas open.
Glencoe has caught the most snow of all the areas over recent days, but given the nature of terrain the lack of base is telling, bring older kit or ski with caution, there are a fair number of rocks out there to catch the unwary. That said though, while it is a seriously late start to the season you can't complain to much about a day that brings blue sky and powder!
The best conditions are to be found on the upper mountain, but the Plateau Poma run is complete and pisted, though the cover is fairly thin lower down it is possible to ski to the base of the Poma and the Poma is operating to take you from the Access Chair to the main area.
Thanks to George Paton for the Glencoe photos. Further reports and links to additional photos may be found in the forums.
