Over the weekend the final preparation work will be undertaken on the slopes of Meall a' Bhuiridh for Monday's opening day, Glencoe's earliest start since the mid 90s.
Today's trip was undertaken to kick (almost literally) the SSC Hut camera system and to return the Access2200 camera to it's rightful place. The Rescue station camera is not currently online, but it will hopefully be back on-stream by New Year.
View the cameras on our
Glencoe Cam page.
On the slopes there is a promising early season base on the main upper snow fields. The storms that put down that base had a high snow level (why it formed a good solid base, very wet snow), which means the mid-mountain had little pre-existing base to the recent snow.
For Monday the main action will be off the Main Basin T-bar, but Mugs Alley is complete and pisted, though it's in typical early season condition with some thin/narrow areas, with pisted fresh but baseless snow. The Plateau Poma will be principally for access to the Cliffhanger Chair. Up top it's fresh powdery snow overlying a firm packed base.
ALL FACILITIES WILL BE CASH ONLY - This is because credit card processing equipment has not yet arrived.
