A small selection of photos from around the Coire Cas side of CairnGorm Mountain on Hogmanay. Those who camped out in the car park overnight and the lucky few who got up early on had a selection of lifts and 12 to 16 inches of fresh powder to themselves!
Almost the whole sweep of the East Lady back down to the Daylodge Poma can now be ridden and there's going to be fresh tracks still to be had for New Year's Day with further showers and slight drifting expected overnight.
Avalanche warning signs were posted on the Summit Path for the Head Wall and Coronation Wall, so if skiing above the Traverse, don't go out on to the steeper stuff. Extreme care should be taken of going beyond the developed area's officially open terrain as there is a High Avalanche risk forecast - see SAIS report for full details.
Within the area there is a general all over cover with a mix of machine packed and skier packed powder, skier tracked and still fresh powder stashes. Vast swathes of moderate powder slopes between the M1 and Cas and the Cas and Fiacaill areas.
All lower slopes are in good condition and it's skiable to the Daylodge via the Fiacaill Ridge, Carpark Run and the M2/Daylodge.
