November, tick. December, tick. January, tick. February, tick. March, tick. April, tick. May, tick. June, tick.
So it just had to be done, July, tick!
Though 5 and a bit weeks have past since the official close to the snow fest winter of 2010 when CairnGorm wrapped of the season with lift assisted turns on the Summer Solstice (which saw 900ft of vertical in the Ciste Gully still on offer) and July is about to give way to August there is still snow to be found on CairnGorm Mountain.
Prob a bit over 200m length of run on offer on the Ciste Mhearaidh snow field just a short distance SE over the back from the Ptarmigan Tow. Crunchy spring snow, but scalloped from the thawing wind of late.
There's still a couple of small patches in the Ptarmigan Bowl, postage sized they might be compared to over the back, but enough for a few turns to entertain the rather perplexed tourists!
August next up, see the forum if your keen (mad?) enough.
