Most main runs are hanging in, but the cover is thin and some runs are narrow and others have bare/worn patches to contend with. Eagle, Buzzard and Falcon runs are narrow esp, at the bottom, though the bottom of the Eagle can be avoided by using the shorter Poma.
Snowy Owl run has been holding out better than the Grouse and Eagle Runs and is probably the best at this end of the Lecht, slightly worn on the steeper pitch but mostly full width between the fences. Snow should firm up a bit before softening again on Sunday. It might not look pretty at the Lecht just now, but it could end up being the best or only bet on Sunday with the high winds forecast.
Thanks to 'cocopele' for the photos from the Lecht. These were taken at the end of the day just after the lifts had closed on route from CairnGorm. Please send your photos to pix2007@winterhighland.info .
