A light covering of fresh from some overnight showers greeted the early risers who were first up the 'Gorm on Wednesday, with lovely machine packed powder surface overlying the good base in the Top Basin. The Top Basin having an extensive base is in really good shape at the moment, but things remain much more limited further down the mountain, but the Cas too has freshened up nicely with what new snow there is. That said the top of the Traverse between the Top Station and the split with the M1 Race Track is not a good idea â€' if you value your bases, walk it!
Other runs are slowly filling, but the snow showers are not getting through to the 'Gorm in the same number as to the Lecht so it's been a frustratingly slow process thus far this week.
New features are being prepared in the terrain park above the Ptarmigan Tow, including a barrel-jump and some rails, the fun boxes should be going out in the Bowl soon too and there is some rollers been dug out on the Upper Cas. If you have touring kit or are prepared to hike out, there was freshies over the back! Thanks to Helen (H11lly) for the photos. Please send yours to pix2007@winterhighland.info .
