Much colder weather moved in overnight with a summit temperature of between -6 and -7°c during the day on Monday. The existing base has set up hard, hard packed snow with a covering of fresh in the Top Basin taking the edge off the base, while on the middle runs where the snow was spring like and less wet the base is firm and grippy under the covering of fresh snow.
Most people were sticking up top, but the best riding was to be had on the mid-runs using the train for uplift, a bit of walking or selective dust on grass skiing required in the Gunbarrel, and on a couple of spots on the Lady, but hopefully that will change overnight. It's a case of wait and watch â€' a big but very marginal storm for snow is moving in. Fingers crossed.
The Ciste Tow is out of action for the time being, it's gear box was getting taken down the mountain early evening to be overhauled/rebuilt off site. In the meantime the West Wall Poma provides alternative uplift, loading just up from the top of the Chairlift.
