Fresh drifts on the Ptarmigan Traverse.

On route to the middle via the Gunbarrel.

Wide area of snow to skiers right of the Ptarmigan Tow, provides some moderate off-piste turns above the Bowl.

Tracks in the layer of fresh snow on the 105 as viewed from the Traverse.

Coire Cas is fairly narrow and thin at the top, but offering reasonable riding thanks to easy surface conditions.

The M1 RaceTrack, mostly full width between the fences out via Horizon Road, scope for alternate lines in and out of the fence through gaps on Skiers right.

Looking down a banked out Traverse into Coire Cas.

A light covering of new snow has really freshened up the Ciste Fairway. Can you tell the wind direction?

Some early/mid morning snow showers were enough to freshen up the surfaces to give some good if not particularly extensive riding. The fresh snow was overlying a firm base higher up, softer towards mid-station; which can be skied to either by the Traverse or M1 RaceTrack, then down the Cas Gunbarrel.

Snow drifting in behind the fences has improved the Ciste Fairway again after the weekend thaw and along with the Ptarmigan Bowl is offering good conditions for lower abilities, with ample nursery areas in the Bowl itself for those just starting out in their chosen snowsport.

The funboxes are out along the steeper line of the Ptarmigan Bowl on the direct route by the T-bar. By taking this line and cutting skiers right across the Tow at the start of the steeper pitch you can access some moderate off-piste snow to the East of the Ptarmigan Tow, before dropping back to the T-bar.

The Traverse has good cover, indeed is banked out by the split with the M1, the 105 is full width also providing a good longer run for early intermediates down onto Coire Cas which is loading from the top of the Gunbarrel. Loose easy to ride snow plus more shelter and no queues! The M1 is mostly full width between the fences down through Horizon Road (link to 105), but the lower RaceTrack is very narrow, much better to use the Gunbarrel for getting to mid-station.
