This selection of photos shows the fencing work on the Lower Slopes of Coire Cas, from the mid-station down.
The fence works involved re-fencing the Sheiling area and Carpark Tow track, with much taller structural fencing with horizontal rails. This should mean better snow catchment and retention on the Sheiling Area, while at the same time reducing the fencing. There are now 2 wider lines rather than 3 narrow ones, so a lot more space between the fences.
There is also drainage working being done on parts of the Carpark Runs, and below the Sheiling a new fenced route between Burnside and the T-bar.
There is now a full route from the Top Station to the Daylodge with the new style fencing and the Upper Cas and 105 have also been fully re-fenced this summer.
Now just add snow to the new fences. Forecast models suggest continuing unsettled conditions into early November, but becoming cooler with more in the way of hill snow. Keep an eye on our webcams.
