The early bird gets the corduroy worm! Looking down the Main Basin T-bar.
| Heading out to prepare Happy Valley early Sunday morning.
|
Main Basin fantastic for much of the day, getting a bit scrapped late on but the loose was close to the Tows.
| The expanse of Rannoch Moor stretches out in front as the Blue Access run winds its way out East before turning back.
|
Heading down the Weasel from the Red to the Blue Access Run.
| Beyond this point be dragons, don't be lured in by the Red Access Run, take a sharp right onto the Weasel and take the Blue route down!
|
Top of the Red Access Run is groomed sweetness, but below the Weasel Track it is icy hardback.
| Looking back to the Spring Run from high on Rankin's Return.
|
Happy Valley falling into the afternoon shadows, being groomed just before opening every day.
| The Wall was part groomed early Sunday, hard but grippy on the groomed line, icy hardpack off it.
|
With all lifts open queues were fairly minimal despite the main carpark being full. Plateau Poma run is brimming.
| With extensive grooming all the Plateau Runs are superb. There is a groomed gentle route out East beyond Rankin's Return.
|
Camping is free on the managed camping pitches at Glencoe during the snowsports season. Is your sleeping bag up to it?
| Looking down the Access Return back to the base of the Plateau Poma (just over the crest).
|
Old Mugs Alley is in superb shape and grooming up nicely. Not getting scrapped with the fairly constant gradient.
| Despite the main carpark being full little in the way of queues with everything open.

A bluebird Sunday at Glencoe, but the Sun was having no effect on the snowpack given the low humidity and cold temperatures. The snowpack is well consolidated now, but is still grooming up pretty nicely for the most part, though some scrapped icy patches will develop during the day on steeper slopes and high traffic spots.
Extensive snow cover extends well below the top of the Access Chair, so all mountain runs have a wide and deep consolidated base. All the Plateau greens are being groomed regularly, the Low Road and Rankin's Return to many machine widths and despite the generally hard snow are in fantastic shape for early intermediates up. Old Mugs Alley having a more constant gradient is staying in good shape through the day, while Mugs Alley is getting scrapped in several places so many were sticking to the Coire Pollach and Plateau Poma meaning the Cliffhanger Chair was fairly quiet.
Mid mountain Mugs Alley and the Wall have been groomed, all middle runs are open but never saw anyone brave enough to go near Thrombosis or the Canyon! Up Top the Main Basin, Happy Valley and the Spring Run are being groomed.
It's still possible to do the full summit to carpark 2400ft of vertical, the low level Red Access Run remains complete, but it's icy and Carnage Corner is particularly tricky. If you don't want to take the chair down, the 4-5min hoof down the hill track from where the snow ends on the Blue Access Run is well worth it for a much more pleasant descent! Take the top third of the Red Access, then sharp right onto the Weasel / Red bike Track, then follow the Blue Access, this route is being pisted daily to around 1450ft. Weasel Gully looks OK, but it's pretty horrific at the moment, stick to the groomed track!
