Report
Heavy wintry showers coming in this evening at Glencoe should be giving a top up on the mountain having fallen as sleet at carpark level on the edge of Rannoch Moor.
Snow showers during Wednesday, but was fairly wet snow and in slightly milder temperatures the snowpack became decidedly sticky off the heavier trafficked areas. Snow is likely to firm up a bit for tomorrow but should groom up well.
There is a wide general cover across the Plateau, but not much depth as there hasn't been all that much drifting at Plateau level, this means you can criss cross the Plateau just about anywhere but beware of thin areas.
Main Basin T-bar is hoped to open on Thursday giving access to Happy Valley and possibly Etive Glades, but Patrol will need to check these out again at first light.
With the wind swinging round to an Easterly quadrant drier and brighter conditions expected in the West Highlands over the coming days. Not all the terrain will be open, but there should be some good days riding to be had for what by historic standards at Glencoe is still very much early season turns.
