Strapping in at the start of a beautiful summer like day - except for the spring snow!

Looking over the top of the Ciste Gully to the Ciste Bowl from the Ciste T-bar queue.

Ptarmigan Traverse is still wide and was groomed to perfection all day thanks to piste basher tours heading this way.

View down the Ciste Tow and Fairway, full width at the top, but narrowing now towards the bottom with the very mild weather.

View over the M1 Poma from the viewing terrace. Still plenty of high level snow for touring.

Sledge Park is still longer than anytime last season and going strong.

Heading up the Ptarmigan Tow, lots of people hitting the big kicker all day. Some classic wipeouts!

Boarder not going to make the landing zone on the large kicker....

Terrain Park area on the steeper pitch by the Ptarmigan Tow as a boarder lines up for the kicker.

Looking over the Cas and 105 from the Traverse, Loch Morlich in the distance beyond a packed Coire Cas carpark (both levels).

Looking up an empty Cas to the Headwall. Cas didn't run due to lack of lifties, the only down point about the day as the Cas had great spring snow.

....or else (an early bath!).

Boarder gets air of the side of the kicker. Respect to the skier doing switch backflips !!

Heading for Coire Cas via the Traverse which is still loaded with good granular spring snow.

That could be that for the season... descending the Cas Gunbarrel for one last time.

Spring Gunbarrel antics. bumps, ridges, bare bits and the stream to dodge!!

An absolutely fantastic May Day Holiday Monday with an early taste of summer on the weather front, with loose granular spring snow giving good fun spring sport in the Top Basin and on the Cas.

A very decent turnout with both levels of the Cas Carpark busy and almost 900 sightseers and between 4 and 500 skiers. Enough to create a real buzz but without making the queues long. Never more than a few minutes wait to work on the sun tan!

Very very warm esp at the top of the Ptarmigan where snow cover is more extensive and it was absolutely flat calm. This may or may not have been the last day of lift served sliding, but if it was then a fantastic day to draw to a close the 2008 season. The mountain will be assessed mid-week with a view to re-opening the Ptarmigan and Cas. Ciste Tow track and Fairway is getting thin and may not last.

Warm and sunny, with extensive high level snow should make for some good high level touring opportunities on the Plateau this week. Finally thank you for visiting Winterhighland regularly through the 2008 season, we hope you have found the site useful and remember to keep checking back through the summer.

Have a good summer. :)
