A selection of photos from lower down on CairnGorm on a mission to the SSC Hut webcams - hardware is kaput and needs replaced, storm damage to buildings and exceptional amounts of snow ingress into buildings due to very low temperatures and very high winds has busted a whole heap of webcam gear and network equipment the cams depend on for internet connectivity.
Thursday looks to have been the last good weather day for a bit with a return to stormier conditions through the weekend and into the new week. Some snap thaw/freeze cycles before more persistent cold looks like returning by the middle of next week. CairnGorm should see some new snow, though heaviest falls again look like being on West Coast mountains and accumulations on CairnGorm will continue to favour lee aspects to the prevailing West winds, such as the Fiacaill and Aonach Ridges, Upper Cas and West Wall of Coire na Ciste.
