A few photos to show the still extensive cover as we hit mid May on the slopes of Meall a' Bhuiridh. The snow fields and gullies that form the bulk of the mid and upper mountain runs are still pretty loaded, so for those prepared to hike or skin up there is still loads to do and there were quite a few tourers out on Thursday.
The Access Chair is open daily (wind) permitting, Friday will cloud over but will probably be dry for a good chunk of the day. The weekend is looking colder, windier with snow showers, these merging together at times with a risk of thunder. Around 0 to -1°c at Munro Level at the weekend, so if you're going for a hike, tour or to hit the Red Downhill Bike Track which is due to open on Saturday, wrap up!
Been working on the installation of an upgraded replacement weather station at the mid-mountain. Hope to swap over later Friday, this is located at the top of the Cliffhanger Chair and is properly screened - the old weather station has been giving false readings in the morning when Sunny as the radiation screen blew away earlier in the season!
