Day 1 of the 'Coe Cup and it was fairly bright, but a bit of mist was reluctant to stay clear of the summit, which lead to flatter light at times particularly on the top runs.
Forecast for Sunday is for largely clear skies and it's currently completely clear as dusk approaches, so it looks like being a chilly night.
All the runs from the Top of the Access Chair are complete, most with a wide and deep cover, all routes back to the base of the Plateau Poma are complete too. Theres actually some nice fresh snow to be found out beyond the Low Road far out on the Plateau, while some steeper fresh could be found in some less visited lines by, above and to the side of the Wall.
On the whole the base under the lose snow is firm and grippy, but it's hardpack at the top of the Spring Run and Happy Valley, getting grippier as you come down a bit. Upper Main Basin is fantastic, should be perfect machine groomed packed powder corduroy awaiting the early birds on Sunday.
Loads of terrain for all ability levels, the only think not open is the Flypaper area due to the Coe Cup, but there's plenty other pretty steep lines to be had elsewhere on the mountain. Not too busy, actually slightly quieter than Friday today, never more than a few minutes wait at the tows.
If you are determined not to download, good skiers and boarders can with a couple of bits of heather hopping get down the Black Access Run to within a couple of hundred metres of the Downhill track bridge. For an easier route the Blue Access Run can be skied to the far out corner of the Red backtrack, from where it's a 5minute walk down the track to the Carpark. Or you could just take the Chair down, but that's not as much of an adventure!
