After a couple of delays with the weather, particularly wind it was time for myself and Helen to get our August turns in on CairnGorm and extend our run of consecutive months with linked turns somewhere on the 'Gorm to 46.
However it was Helen's second day skiing of the month, having skied two decent sized patches with over 20 turns on Carn Ban Mor above Glen Feshie on Monday. Complete with under snow tunnel high enough to walk through (see snow patch thread on forum).
On CairnGorm the Coire Domhain snowfield was a good shape and pitch for some easy turns, but quite slow and sticky snow. In contrast the Ciste Mhearaidh snow was perfect fast crunchy granular spring snow, but the undulating snowfield more traversed the slope than followed the fall-line, the best line straight down yielded around 8 or 9 turns.
Elsewhere on the mountain the work to complete top to bottom runs with new style fencing continues. There will be some new lines to ride back to the Daylodge by this season.
